Actor / Director / Producer
An award winning director and a multiple award winning actor. Having won Best Actor for several films, inc Sheikh Shahnawaz's 'Duality' and Lalit Bhusal's 'Crushed Wings'. Nisaro created Five Pence Productions in 2018 with an aim to tell stories that often go untold. He has since produced over a total of 15 films each with a unique message.
Dr. Lisa Blissitt
Actor / Producer
After focusing mainly on musical theatre, she branched out into immersive theatre and film. Lisa has been involved in a number of films, features and television work. More recently, with Five Pence Productions she has worked as a producer. She is very committed to delivering good quality films that portray important messages . Lisa works as a doctor in the NHS and is very aware of how powerful the medium of film and other creative arts can be in getting across important messages to wider audiences.
Billy Reynolds
Producer / Actor
Transitioning from the world of business to the screen, Billy has become a recognized actor with several feature films to his credit. His passion for storytelling and natural charisma have earned him acclaim both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. His acting credits include The Unlock, Lefty, Peaky Blinders, Angel of the North. As a producer, Billy has worked on several films and has also directed two short films, bringing a sharp creative vision to each project. He continues to expand his presence in the industry both in front of and behind the camera.
Jackie Staite
Producer / Writer
Jackie Staite is an acclaimed producer, script writer and director. A successful business woman, Jackie is also passionate about the arts and often engages in different creative ventures. Her latest stage show 'Hi-De-Hi' was a sold out success.
Sheikh Shahnawaz
Director / Screenwriter / Producer
With over 11 short films that have received over 2m total views on YouTube, Sheikh's debut feature film "Bluff" is out now worldwide on digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video. The film currently has an 83% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Cath Clarke from The Guardian wrote: "Shahnawaz is clearly ambitious and does well on what looks like a minuscule budget". Michael Talbot-Haynes from Film Threat gave it a great review, writing: "The movie is an excellent opiate opera with fantastic performances by a needle-sharp cast".
Sam Jordanne
Videographer / Photographer
Sam is an exceptional videographer and photographer. The face of Beyond Magazine, Sam is often seen gracing the red carpet at premieres. She is passionate about filmmaking and telling stories especially those about sci-fi.
About Us
Our Story
Founded by Nisaro Karim in 2018, our first ever production was David and Goliath, directed by the acclaimed Sheikh Shahnawaz. The following year Dr. Blissitt joined the company and we decided to create a series of short films. exploring various different genres and themes.
We like to tell stories that have an underlying meaning and we love to fuse them with a traditional genre, for example 'The Despondent' released for Halloween 2019 is a horror that highlights the haunting effect of depression. The award winning film 'Jed' tackles stereotypes and forces society to look within its judgemental nature.
Date Night - My directorial debut
This is always going to be a special project for me, it was my solo directorial debut. It was a beautiful learning experience, from writing the script, to producing the film and then handling the release. I wouldn't have been able to do it without Lisa and the rest of my team, the mantra team work makes the dream work is extremely true.
